How to Use Wan 2.7 Text-to-Video (T2V): A Practical Workflow

Text-to-video is the fastest way to test ideas in Wan 2.7. But if you prompt it like an image model, you’ll burn credits on clips that “kind of” match your intent—without landing the camera or the motion.

This is a workflow that produces more usable clips with fewer rerolls.

Wan 2.7 text-to-video workflow: a text prompt transforming into a sequence of cinematic frames

Step 1: Start With One Clear Shot (Not a Full Movie)

The most common T2V mistake is asking for:

  • multiple scene changes
  • multiple locations
  • multiple actions
  • multiple characters

Wan 2.7 will attempt it, but coherence drops fast.

Instead, write prompts as one shot:

  • one location
  • one main subject
  • one action
  • one camera behavior

You can stitch multiple shots later.

Step 2: Use a Prompt Structure That Actually Controls Motion

Use this template:

  1. Subject (who/what)
  2. Action (what changes over time)
  3. Environment (where + light)
  4. Camera (movement + framing)
  5. Style (optional, minimal)

Example prompt you can steal:

A barista pours latte art into a cup, close-up on hands, warm cafe lighting, steam visible, the camera slowly pushes in, cinematic color grading, shallow depth of field.

Notice what it does:

  • specifies what moves (hands, liquid, steam)
  • specifies camera behavior (push in)
  • avoids “random vibes” keyword lists

Step 3: Add Camera Words (Or the Model Will Choose For You)

If you want predictable output, be explicit:

  • static camera
  • slow push in / dolly forward
  • slow pull back
  • pan left / pan right
  • orbit around subject
  • tracking shot following subject

If you don’t specify, you’re not “neutral”—you’re delegating the shot to default behavior.

Step 4: Iterate Cheap, Then Upgrade

Use a two-pass loop:

  1. Draft: 720p, short duration
  2. Final: 1080p, same prompt + minor refinement

This reduces cost and improves success rate because you only pay for high quality once the motion is already correct.

Step 5: Fix the 3 Problems That Ruin Most T2V Clips

Problem A: The clip looks like a static photo

Cause: you described what it looks like, not what changes.

Fix: add motion verbs:

  • “turns head”
  • “walks forward”
  • “wind moves hair”
  • “camera pushes in”

Problem B: The camera moves in the wrong way

Cause: no camera instruction, or conflicting instructions.

Fix: choose one camera move and commit:

Static camera. Only the subject moves.

Problem C: The subject “morphs” or drifts

Cause: over-complex subject description or too many competing details.

Fix: simplify the character description and emphasize consistency:

The subject remains the same person throughout the clip. No identity change.

A Set of T2V Prompts That Usually Perform Well

If you need quick wins, these patterns are reliable:

  • Close-up craft: cooking, hands assembling, pouring, painting
  • Product motion: rotating product on a turntable, light sweep
  • Landscape camera: drone push-in, slow pan over scenery
  • Portrait micro-motion: blink, smile, hair movement, subtle camera push

They all share one trait: the motion is easy to understand and easy to render.
